Notes: Intuition is natural feeling of whats right. Reasoning comes more from whats around you and laws etc. Political polarization has been dramatically increasing throughout the years. Moral sentinels are scientists who inform others about their political impacts.
Fact 1: Political Polarization has increase dramatically since 1994.
Fact 2: Reasoning can be used to justify intuition.
- Where would you put your tick mark? What informs your decision? Personally I would put the tick mark more towards the implication side, because I think that could accumulate more interest which would lead to more discussion. This increase in interest and discussion leads to a more design conversation later on.
2. What happened in regard to political polarization between the years 1994 and 2017? Do you think this trend has continued? Political polarization has dramatically grown. I think this trend has continued to grow throughout the years since 2017.
3. In the above scenario, was anything done that was immoral? Is your decision based on intuition, or reason? Which did you respond with first? Was your reasoning used to justify your intuition, or do you think it was the result of impartial thought?: Yes I think it was immoral to cook and eat their neighbor’s dead dog. This decision is based on intuition, and I believe that this was the result of impartial thoughts.
Connection: One connection that I have witnessed a lot online is the new introduction of AI. There are a lot of fears around AI, however there has not been a lot of “moral sentinels” in the field such as ChatGBT. From what I have seen they have shown the public their product, but have not clearly disclosed all the risks it could have on society and politics. This risks are relatively well known to the public, however I would like to see the company reassure the public themselves.
